James 'Jimmy' David Pittman

Mr. James "Jimmy" David Pittman, age 70, of Gainesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 08, 2013 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.


Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Grady White and Reverend James Campbell will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 09, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.


Mr. Pittman was born on November 30, 1942 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Ralph Pittman and Susie Inez Allen Pittman. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a retired self-employed Plumber and Electrician. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army and served two tours in Vietnam, where he was a Purple Heart Recipient. He was also a member of Chapter 772. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, H.L. Pittman and Ralph Pittman Jr., sister, Dorothy Louise Millwood.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judi Pittman of Gainesville, son, Jason David Pittman of Gainesville, grandson, Chandler Pittman of Flowery Branch, sister, Sue Puckett of Gainesville, brothers-in-law, Wayne Griffin of Lula and Charles Griffin of Homer, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Dianne & Jack Hawkins of Gillsville, Larry & Dianne Griffin of Lula, Gary & Montez Griffin of Flowery Branch and Kevin & Ann Griffin of Homer, sister-in-law, Elaine Smith, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, LaWanda & James Brown of Gainesville, special mother-in-law, Annie Lee Griffin of Lula and a number of nieces and nephews.
