Mr. Emory Lawrence Aycock, 89, of Gainesville died Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
A native of Oconee County, Mr. Aycock had been a resident of Hall County since 1960. He was the son of the late Penn Quaker and Mattie Finley Aycock. Mr. Aycock served in the United States Army during World War II, and was retired from Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company where he had worked as an engineer for over 38 years. Mr. Aycock was an active member and life deacon of the Lakewood Baptist Church who honored God in all that he did.
Mr. Aycock was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather and was loved by all that knew him.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law; Duke and Jane Aycock, daughter and son-in-law; Donna and John Wiggins, all of Gainesville; grandchildren, Susan and Brian Villhauer, Brian and Emiko Aycock, Laura Aycock, Hayden Wiggins, Alyse Wiggins, and Elizabeth Wiggins, great grandchildren; Cooper, Logan, Tucker, Wakana, and Masa; sister, Helen Rice, Watkinsville.
Mr. Aycock is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Johnson Aycock, siblings, Nathan Aycock, Annie Baker, Laura Shelton, Albert Aycock, Hugh Aycock, and Eunice Aycock.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 17, 2013 at the Lakewood Baptist Church. Dr. Tom Smiley and Dr. Jerry Gill will officiate. Interment will follow in the Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday August 16, 2013 at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
