Michael "Larry" Hill

Obituary Date: Sunday, April 21, 2013
Michael "Larry" Hill, age 62, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.

Mr. Hill was born on September 19, 1949, in Nashville, Georgia; son of the late Ralph and Maud Bennett Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Royce Hill. Mr. Hill was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during The Vietnam Conflict and also served in the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard for a combined total of 20 years. He was employed with Habersham Metal Products for a number of years and also worked with B.J. Supply for several years. Larry was a member of the Toccoa V.F.W. Post #4346.

Larry was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Cornelia. The wonderful people of Hillside Baptist Church opened their doors and hearts to Larry. He worked tirelessly helping at the church in any way that he could. He also reached out to people in the community that needed a helping hand. Larry had a big heart and will be missed by his family and good friends, Rev. Larry Free, Bud and the late Betty Smith, and Arlene Addison.

Survivors include daughters, Valerie McKeithan, Gainesville, GA and Tammy Ellis, Cleveland; sisters, Lane Lee, Baldwin, Cleo Hoyle, Jacksonville, FL, and Barbara Taylor, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Portia Hill, Clarkesville, GA; brothers, Rodney Peters, Plant City, FL, Redith Gaines, Nashville; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Larry Free officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by Georgia United States Army National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013, Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia.
