Donald (Little Gib) Gilbert

Donald (Little Gib) Gilbert, age 69 of Cumming, GA, passed away on April 03, 2013.

He was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church and served on the board of NIADA. Over the years, Donald enjoyed sharing with his family his child hood memories of playing with his cousins (and there were a lot) at their grandfather Bells' farm - shooting bb guns and riding their "truck wagon" into the creek! He tagged along behind his Gilbert uncles who treated him more like a little brother than a nephew. He looked forward to Friday night dinners with his sisters and brothers-in-law. He loved and adored his grandchildren. He was a true friend, a quiet man and he will be missed. He is preceded in death by his father, Jr. (Big Gib) Gilbert; brother, David Gilbert; infant sister, Stacy Gilbert.


Survivors include his wife, Jane Gilbert of Cumming; children, Mitchell and Alice Gilbert of Cumming, Melanie and Robert Smith of Cumming; grandchildren, Caleb Gilbert, Rebecca and Paul Dankewich, Mattie, Dawson and Macey Smith; great grandson, Luke Wade Dankewich; mother, Retha B. Gilbert of Cumming; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gail and Dennis Jones of Cumming, Linda and Wayne Grindle of Cumming; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.



Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 6th at 4:00 pm at Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Ruel Martin, Rev. Tim Hubbard, Rev. Richard Picklesimer and Paul Dankewich officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Friday from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Saturday from 1:00 pm until hour of service.
