Luther Payton Tanner

Mr. Luther Payton Tanner, age 83,of Commerce, GA died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Tanner was born in Gillsville to the late L.P. and Elizabeth Wilson Tanner. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and was retired from Roper Pump. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Watkins Tanner.

Mr. Tanner is survived by his daughters, Debbie Phagan of Nicholson, Shelia Minish of Commerce and Gay Dowdy of Homer; sons, Jeff Tanner and Tracy Tanner both of Commerce; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3 PM, Sunday, January 27 at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Phillips and Rev. Ray Chester officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday night from 6 to 8 PM.
