Ronald Umberhandt

Ronald Umberhandt, age 64, of Baldwin, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Umberhandt was born on May 10, 1948, in Habersham County, Georgia; son of the late Lewis and Evelyn Carpenter Umberhandt. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Umberhandt. Mr. Umberhandt was a United States Army Veteran having proudly served his country during Vietnam. He was also a retired law officer and attended Cornelia Christian Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Sylvia Gabrels Umberhandt, Baldwin, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Danny Grier, Hollywood, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Sheila Umberhandt, Maysville, GA and Brian and Matilda Umberhandt, Baldwin, GA; brothers, J.D. Umberhandt, Toccoa, GA, James Umberhandt, Gainesville, GA, and Billy Umberhandt, Baldwin, GA; and grandchildren, Jessica Umberhandt, D.J. Grier, and A.J. Grier.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with David Terrell officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Thursday.
