Mr. John Leon Adair, Sr.

Mr. John Leon Adair, Sr., age 81, of Suwanee, GA passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his first wife in 2005, Ann Judson Adair. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Ann Elizabeth Adair, Suwanee, GA; children, Marie and Frederick Przystas, Ellenwood, GA, Susan and Dan Smith, Blairsville, GA, John L., Jr. and Kim Adair, Norcross, GA, Michael Lee Watkins, Marietta, GA and Kimberly Watkins Burd and husband, Richard Burd, Johns Creek, GA; grandchildren, Allison Leigh Przystas, Lauren Marie Smith, William Judson Adair, Madeline Frances Adair, Andrew Tyler Sutton, Emerson Lee Burd, and Alexandra Edwards Burd; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Adair was born August 19, 1931 in Gordo, AL. He was a 1948 graduate of Tuscaloosa High School in Tuscaloosa, AL, a 1952 graduate of the University of Alabama where he received his Commerce Degree; and a 1958 graduate of the University of Alabama where he received his Law Degree. While at the University of Alabama, he lettered in baseball for three years and was a member of the ROTC. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served in Korea as Second Lieutenant from 1952 to 1954.

He was a retired attorney from Adair, Scanlon, McCugh Law Firm in Atlanta, GA and Washington DC. He represented the National Labor Relations Board in Tampa, FL before moving to Atlanta where his Law Firm represented Communication Workers of America. He was a member of the Atlanta Bar Association. He was a member of the Buford Church of Christ in Buford, GA and was a former member of Chestnut Drive Church of Christ in Doraville, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Buford Church of Christ with remains placed in state at 10:00 a.m. Mr. Scott Harp will officiate. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Honorary Escort will be the Elders of Buford Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Georgia Agape or Right Steps in memory of John L. Adair, Sr.
