Betty Jean Whelchel

Mrs. Betty Jean Whelchel, 83 of Gainesville died Thursday November 29, 2012 at New Horizons Lanier Park.

Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Mrs. Whelchel had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was born April 11, 1929 to Charles B. and Fannie Lou Head Bagwell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kary Whelchel.

Survivors include her four children, Deanna Whelchel, Kevin Whelchel, Bobby and Jan Whelchel, Sara and Tim Beacham; five grandchildren, Shane Whelchel, Karen Whelchel, Robert Whelchel, Chloe Beacham, and Kaylie Beacham; one great grandchild, Alexis Whelchel; nephew, Larry and Marci Sieg and her best friend, Barbara Cotton.

Mrs. Whelchel was retired from the J.C. Penney Company after many years of service as a sales associate. She loved to dance and spend time with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday December 2, 2012 in the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Kent Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday December 1, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
