Mildred "Mickey" Butts

Funeral services for Mildred "Mickey" Butts, age 84, of Clarkesville will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the Clemens Chapel United Methodist Funeral services for Mildred "Mickey" Smith Butts, age 84, of Clarkesville will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM from the Clemens Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Jerry Cameron and Rev. Phil Ferguson will officiate with interment to follow the service in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Butts died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Columbia, South Carolina on October 5, 1928 Mrs. Butts was the daughter of the late Walter H. Smith and Leona Shumpert Smith Ballington. She was a stewardess for Delta Airlines before working as a radio and tele-type operator, and later retired from Piedmont Automotive. Mrs. Butts was a member of Clemons Chapel United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents Mrs. Butts is preceded in death by sisters Devorah Fain and Gwendolyn Chaize and step sister Diane Thornton.

Survivors include daughter Gwendolyn Anita Belle of Gainesville, daughter and son in law Gena M. and Marty Funk of Mt. Airy, son Jeffery Walter Lee Butts of Columbia, South Carolina, brother Robert B. Smith of Rock Hill, South Carolina, step brothers Bobby Ballington and Ray Ballington of Columbia, South Carolina, grandson Bradley Ward of Gainesville and granddaughter Ashley Bell of Americus.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
