Lona Mae Chester

Lona Mae Chester, 86, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Chestatee Regional Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born January 16, 1926 in Lumpkin County to the late Oscar and Nellie Tow, she lived in Dawson County over 70 years. A homemaker at her death, she retired from Sweet-Orr after 38 years of service and was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Mrs. Chester was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold "Chiz" Chester; daughter in law, Charldine Chester; sisters, Adele Tow, Bertha Lou Chester, Ethelene Timms; and brothers, Dillard Tow and Hillard Tow.

Surviving are her sons and daughter in law, Clinton Chester, Dawsonville, Clifton and Joyce Chester, Dawsonville; daughter and son in law, Geneva and Dale Hampton, Roswell; sister, Jean Mason, Dahlonega; brother, Delbert Tow, Dawsonville; six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday October 12, 2012 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mark Biddy and Rev. Glenn Byrd will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 3 until 8 at the funeral home.
