Mary Warrington

Mrs. Mary Warrington of Cumming, GA passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at White Oaks at Lanier Assisted Living Home in Cumming. She was 99 years old.

Mr. Warrington was born in Cumming, GA, the daughter of George L. and Polly Calloway on April 25, 1912. She taught school at Cumming High School for several years and after that she taught in the Miami, FL Public School Department. Later, she and her husband owned and operated a motel in Valley Forge, PA.

Mrs. Warrington was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Warrington; her parents, George L. and Polly Merritt; brothers, James F. Merritt, Sr. and Col. George L. Merritt, Jr. of the U.S. Army Air Corps who was killed in action in World War II; sisters, Kathryn Boyd and Antoinette Ramsey.

Survivors include her nephew, James F. Merritt, Jr. and his wife, Lou of Cleveland, GA and their son, James F. Merritt, III and his wife, Darlene and their son, James. F. Merritt, IV (Jamie) of Dawsonville; also 3 nephews, David, Tony and Lewis Ploudre and niece, Maria Monier, all of Missouri.

Her body was donated to Emory University Hospital for research. A Memorial Service will be held at Cumming First United Methodist Church on April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Stasco and Rev. Cromartie officiating.



Donations may be made to Cumming First United Methodist Church Music Department in honor of the George L. Merritt family.
