Jettie Lee Whitmire Wiley

Mrs. Jettie Lee Whitmire Wiley, 83, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at her home following a brief battle with cancer.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2011, at First Baptist Church on Green Street, Gainesville with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Dr. Bill Coates and Mrs. Wiley's nephew, the Rev. Clark Watson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3-5:30p.m. Friday, November 25, 2011 and from 5-8p.m., Saturday, November, 26, 2011.

Mrs. Wiley was born July 6, 1928 in Forsyth County and was the daughter of the late Ethel and Carl Whitmire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; Lendon, Marcus, Robert, and Wallace Whitmire; and her sister Joyce Campbell. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Bobby L. Wiley of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Gayle Wiley of Cumming and Lee and Leigh Wiley of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve King of Calhoun; grandchildren, James, Elizabeth, and Catherine Wiley, Robert, William, and Jack Wiley, and Ben and Emma King; sister and brother-in-law, Florene and Carroll Castleberry of Gainesville; sisters Millie Watson of Gainesville, Betty Bruce of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Jackie Freeman of Dawsonville; sister-in-law, Janet Wiley of Gainesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wiley was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville. She loved the Lord and raised her children to do the same. She was known for her strong work ethic, high moral character, and compassion for others. She was uniquely plain spoken, and forgiving. Mrs. Wiley enjoyed working in her yard and attending the activities of her grandchildren. She devoted her entire life to her family and will be greatly missed by so many. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Ministry of Caring and Sharing at the First Baptist Church 751 Green Street Gainesville, Ga. 30501
