Truett Thompson

Truett Thompson, 82, of Clayton, GA passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Mountain Lakes Medical Center.

He was born in Persimmon Community, Rabun County, Georgia and was the son of the late Sanford L. and Frances King Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dover Thompson, Grover Thompson, and Buford Thompson; and a sister, Grace Thompson Justus.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jenelle Thompson of the home, two daughters and their husbands, Jan and William Thompson of Cornelia, GA, Julie and James Harvey of Demorest, GA; a sister, Arlene Thompson of Highway 197, Clayton; three grandchildren, Jacob Thompson, Seth Harvey, and Nathan Harvey.

Truett was member of the 1947 Rabun County High School Graduating Class, and a retired mechanic in the textile industry. He gardened to share with family and friends. He was a member of Persimmon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, adult Sunday School teacher and song leader. He also attended Battle Branch Baptist Church. He walked humbly and honorably with his Lord.

The family will receive visitors at Beck Funeral Home Monday, September 12, 2011 from 6 PM to 8 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Persimmon Baptist Church with Pastor Ronia Hunter and Pastor Madison McCrackin officiating. Burial will follow in Persimmon Community Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in Truett Thompson's memory may be made to further the ministry of the Gospel.
