Martha Jurell Peek Stephenson

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Martha Jurell Peek Stephenson, age 83, of Jefferson, who passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Mrs. Stephenson was born in Jackson County. Mrs. Stephenson is the daughter to the late Joseph Andrew and Nettie Susanna Satterfield Peck. Mrs. Stephenson was employed at BJC Hospital and was a member at Little Country Church. Mrs. Stephenson is preceded in death by her husband James Willie Stephenson.

Survivors include her daughter Sandra Highfill of Jefferson, son, Paul Stephenson of Jefferson, sister-in-law Margie Peek of Fitzgerald Ga., Grandchildren Brandon Stephenson, Candice Stephenson, Amy Purdy, Five great-grandchildren, Two great-great grandchildren

A memorial will be held Friday September 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Edwards officiating. The visitation will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the St. Mary's Hospice House, P.O.Box 6588, Athens, GA 30604. The family would like to give thanks to the caregivers at St Marys Hospice House, who gave such wonderful care to Mrs. Stephenson during her time there.
