Van "Wesley" Dayton

Van "Wesley" Dayton, age 74, Cornelia, Georgia, went to our heavenly home to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Dayton was born in Macon County, North Carolina, on May 30, 1937, to the late Henry Grady and Carmen Ledford Dayton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Rodney Dayton, infant granddaughter, Katlyn Dayton, nephews, Brock Dayton and Gregory Hicks, and a niece Karen Broome. Mr. Dayton was a sheet metal mechanic with the International Brotherhood of Sheet Metal Works, Union Local Number 85.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara Lynn Dayton, Cornelia, GA; daughters, Regina Taylor, Clarkesville, GA and Nancy Dayton, Cleveland, GA; son, Rodney Dayton, Baldwin, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Kari Dayton, Homer, GA; sisters, Mama Jean Hulsey, Virginia Hicks, Billie York and Sherrie Mathis; sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Louie Bullard; brother, Roger Dayton; grandchildren, Nathan Taylor and his wife Kristy, Natasha Taylor, Hunter Dayton, Kaden Dayton and Kyle Dayton; and one great grandchild, Kylie Lynn Taylor.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA with Rev. Raymond Payne and Rev. Garry Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in the B.C. Grant Baptist Church Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:-00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, from the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, GA.
