Joe Hampton Morgan

Joe Hampton Morgan, age 73, of Dahlonega, GA, died Wednesday August 17, 2011 at his home.

Joe was born October 4, 1937 in Chattanooga, TN and had lived in Dahlonega for the past 40 years. He was a retired professor of Speech and Drama from North GA College and State University. He received a Masters of Fine Arts in Theatre Production from the University of Georgia. Joe was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and Alpha Psi Omega Theatrical Fraternity, both at UGA. He was a volunteer for Lumpkin County Special Olympics for 13 years and was a member of Lanier Christian Church in Gainesville. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Joe was the son of the late Hampton Clay Morgan and Lucille Sanders Morgan.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Campbell Morgan, Dahlonega; son, Jonathan Sanders Morgan, Dahlonega; and daughter, Jennifer Marie Morgan, Dahlonega.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4 PM Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Lanier Christian Church in Gainesville.

David Simpson, Minister will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
