Hilda Etta Granny Carnes

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Hilda Etta "Granny" Carnes, 83, of Jefferson, Ga. who passed away Monday July 18, 2011 at her residence follow a period of declining health.

A native of Carroll County, Ga., Mrs. Carnes was a daughter of the late Otis Cleveland and Lessie Jane Horsley Lumsden. She retired from Red Fern Sausage Company. Mrs. Carnes was a member at Willingham Dr. Baptist Church in East Point, Ga.

Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earl Daniel Carnes and a son, Earl Cleveland Carnes.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann Carnes Jenkins of Conyers, Ga. and Daughter and son in law, Brenda Louise and Frank Stowe of Jefferson, Ga. Grandchildren, Deborah Savage, Derek Craig Gilbert, Stephen Earl Gaynes, Pamela Michelle Hughes, Jeffrey Scott Gaynes, Jason Carnes, and Josh Carnes, and 14 great grandchildren, sisters, Doris Camp of Winston, Ga. and Estelle Miller of Bremen, Ga.

Funeral services will be Wednesday July 20, 2011 at 11:00 at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Powers officiating. Interment will be at Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery 4585 E Highway 166 Carrollton, Ga. 30116. The family will receive friends Tuesday July 19, 2011 from 6-8 at the funeral home.
