Fannie Overstreet

Mrs. Fannie "Lucy" (Davis) Overstreet, age 74, of Oakwood, Georgia, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, July 21, 2011 at the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Chuck Nation will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Tuesday, July 19, 2011 and Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the funeral home.

Lucy was born September 17, 1936 in Franklin County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Jewell Yow Davis and Flora Mae (Smith) Davis. She graduated from Franklin County High School and graduated from Truett McConnell College and Tift College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Flowery Branch, GA. She retired in 1993 from Hall County Schools following 33 years of service, most of those years were at Oakwood Elementary. Following her retirement she taught at Oakwood First Baptist pre-school for 5 more years.

Mrs. Overstreet is survived by her husband, Simon E. Overstreet of Oakwood; daughter and son-in-law, Elise and Jimmy Humphrey of Gainesville; daughter, Cindy Overstreet of Oakwood; granddaughter and husband, Brittany and John Davenport of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Hayleigh Davenport and Tyler "Ty-Ty" Davenport both of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, C.W. and Margie Davis of Oakwood; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jennings and Poly Overstreet of Brunswick, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews; special family friend, J.T. and Barbara Ann Pirkle of Flowery Branch; and a host of special friends.
