Jefferson Daniel (J.D.) Walden

Mr. Jefferson Daniel (J.D.) Walden, age 85, of Dahlonega, GA, died Friday, May 13, 2011, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.

Mr. Walden was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. He was retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corporation and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

He was the son of the late Raleigh Walden and Fannie Trammell Walden and was also preceded in death by son, Michael Walden; infant children, Fannie Ruth, Barbara Ann, and Clyde Walter Walden.

J.D. is survived by his wife of 56 years, Annie Sue Walden, Dahlonega, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Tina Walden, Dahlonega, GA; sister, Thelma Whelchel, Dahlonega, GA; grandchildren, Jonathan Walden, Jacob Walden, and Austin Walden; great-granddaughter, Kinley Walden. A number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Antioch Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Clifford Allen and Rev. J. R. Fields will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega on Saturday, May 14, 2011 from 6 PM until 9 PM.
