Dean Reed

Dean Reed, age 76, of Oakwood, GA passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home. Interment to follow in Oakwood City Cemetery. Rev. Randall Reed and Rev. Steve Fenlon will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Reed was born September 17, 1934 to the late Leonard Reed and Roach Wallis Reed. He was retired after 22 years of service at General Motors and owned Dean Reed Grading for 17 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley and working on his '57 Chevy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Oakwood.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Evelyn Atkins Reed, brothers, Wilton and Jacob Reed and sister, Elaine Williams.

He is survived by his son, Randall Reed of Oakwood; brothers, Jerry Reed of Clarkesville and Jimmy Reed of Oakwood; sister & brother-in-law, Charlene Reed & Aubrey Tipton of Oakwood; grandchildren, Tabitha and Toby Reed; nephews, Dwayne Williams & Dennis Tipton; nieces, Leann Evans, Sandra Nix, & Kim Newell.
