Wiley Clayton Walker

Mr. Wiley Clayton Walker, age 91, of Gainesville, went to his Heavenly Home on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 after an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Reverend Clack Stubbs and Dr. Gerald Atkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mr. Walker was the son of the late Irvin Walker and Dovie (Ash) Walker. He was a member and deacon of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and worked at City Ice Company for 40 years. Mr. Walker is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Lucille Loggins, Grace Pethel, Elizabeth Pirkle, Beatrice Delong and his brothers, Willie Walker, Garnette Walker, Pledger Walker, Clyde Walker, Eugene Walker, and Burlin Walker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dessie Walker, his daughter, Janice Shubert of Gillsville, son & daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Martha Walker of Chestnut Mountain, brother & sister-in-law, Winford and Audrey Walker of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws, Ora and Leonard Murphy, Ella and Darrell Holcomb, Beatrice and Dean Rockmore, Ruth Stinchcomb, Louise Landers and Betty Walker, grandchildren, Teresa Shubert of Winter Park, Florida, Scott Walker of Gainesville and Brandon Walker of Chestnut Mountain, great-grandchildren, Blake Joiner, Colton and Karah Walker, Garrison and Dawson Walker and number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
