Essie Ruth Whitehead Cowart

Ivie Funeral Home, Madison County Chapel, announces services for Essie Ruth Whitehead Cowart, 85, of Hull who died on Thursday at Cobb Healthcare in Comer. Born in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Earlie Andrew and Lizzie Vaughn Whitehead and was the widow of J.C. Cowart. She was also predeceased by a son, Lewis Cowart. Survivors include daughters, Susan (Asa) Huff of Hull, Robin Burroughs of Colbert; a son, Nelson Cowart of Nicholson; a brother, Elmer Whitehead of Athens; grandchildren, Wesley (Brandy) Huff, Suzanne (Grant) Culbertson, Dawn (Jackson) Kilgore, Tyler Doster;4 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Special thanks are extended to special caregivers of Cobb Healthcare, Tonga Allen, Denise and Mandy. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2 PM from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Madison County Chapel, in Danielsville with Rev. Dennis Kesler and Rev. Clay Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the Hull Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 7-9 PM.
