Lester Lee Sutton

Funeral services for Lester Lee Sutton, age 91, of Clarkesville, will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 11:00 AM from the Hillside Memorial Chapel. Rev. Rick Price and Rev. W. A. Trotman will officiate with burial to follow the service in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM.

Mr. Sutton passed away Monday, July 5, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born in Habersham County on April 3, 1919, Mr. Sutton was the son of the late Vaughn P. and Susie Smith Sutton. Mr. Sutton was a member of Clarkesville United Methodist Church and he was also a Gideon. He was a United States Army Veteran and he served with the 24th Infantry Division in the South Pacific in World War II. Mr. Sutton was a retired tire dealer having owned Sutton Tire where he was self employed for over 40 years. Mr. Sutton was also involved with many charitable organizations, some of them include Clarkesville Masonic Lodge #325 F&AM, Valley of Atlanta Yaarab Shrine Temple and the Order of the Eastern Star Habersham Chapter #480. In addition to his parents Mr. Sutton is preceded in death by brothers James Marion Sutton, Lawrence Holman Sutton, and Edgar William Sutton.

Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife Jimmie Youngblood Sutton of Clarkesville, sons and daughters in law Clark and Jeanene Hill Sutton and Brian and Margaret McShane Sutton all of Clarkesville, sisters Irene Sutton Land of Cornelia and Louise Sutton Bryant of Clarkesville, grandchildren Melissa Filiatreau, Justin, Lindsey, and Sydney Sutton, Drayton and Matthew Sutton, and great grandchildren Annalise, Cadence, Marylane, and Skyler Sutton.
