Jack W. Martin

Jack W. Martin, age 80 of Clarkesville, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Landmark Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County on August 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Lester and Alice Dean Martin. Mr. Martin and his son Steve, were the former owners and operators of Martin Electronics where he retired as a television repairman. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Demorest and was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed various types of music, reading and bird watching. He also admired aviation and he was a sports enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Franklin, Catherine Briggs and Edith Martin and brothers, Rev. Bob Martin, Ken Martin and Frank Martin.

Surviving are wife of 51 years, Carolann C. Martin of Clarkesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Teressa & Michael Weaver of Mt. Airy and Peggy & Bill Nelson of Toccoa; son and companion, Steve Martin & Rita Harkins of Dahlonega; sister, Sue Martin Shope of Smyrna; sister-in-law, Shirley Marion of Toccoa; two grandchildren, Tonya Brady of Clarkesville and Ashley Williams and her husband, Benji of Gainesville; great grandson, Colton Brady.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2010, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Charles Holland officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Thursday.
