Mrs. Lillie Mae Major, 92, of Gillsville died Wednesday April 28, 2010 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Lumpkin County, Mrs. Major was the daughter of the late Adam P. and Carrie Gillespie Peck. She had lived in Hall County for most of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Major was a member of the Cool Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Major is preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Major, several brothers and sisters and two great grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters; Dortha Mae Major Davis and James Otis Davis of Gillsville; Annie Ruth Major Day and Herbert Day, Gainesville; Mildred Lenell Major Day and Homer Day; son and daughter-in-law; Robert Lewis Major and Charlotte Thurmond Major of Gainesville; 18 grandchildren 37 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 1, 2010 in the Mason & Ward Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Chris Ellis and Rev. Franklin Grant will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Friday April 30, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
