Mary Louise Bateman

Mrs. Mary Louise Bateman, 94, of Gainesville died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Oaks at Limestone.

Born in Hall County, Mrs. Bateman had lived in the Decatur and Atlanta area for a number of years before moving back to Gainesville and residing at Smokey Springs Retirement Center. She was the daughter of the late Julian Emory and Lessie Mae Threlkeld Ransom. Her dad was an administrator at Riverside Military Academy for a number of years. Mrs. Bateman was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Decatur for over 50 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who spent her life caring for and loving her family.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Dianne Bateman, Flowery Branch; grandchildren, Jeffrey S. Bateman, Lilburn, Jason and Suzanne Bateman, Hoschton; great-grandson, Grady Bateman, Hoschton; sister, Marie Boston, Lilburn. Mrs. Bateman is preceded in death by her husband, Paul T. Bateman, Sr.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 in the chapel of the First Baptist Church on Green Street. The Rev. Dr. Bill Coates will officiate. Interment will be held at a later date in the Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge next to her late husband. The family will receive friends in the Banquet Hall of the First Baptist Church on Sunday March 7, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Ministry of Caring at the First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Ga. 30501.
