Doris Lawrence Poore

Obituary Date: Monday, September 7, 2009
Mrs. Doris Lawrence Poore, 81 of West County Line Road, Lula died Monday September 7, 2009 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.


Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Mrs. Poore had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the O.R. "Buck" and Mildred "Mid" Barbary Lawrence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gillsville Baptist Church and the Agape WMU at the church. Mrs. Poore is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Poore and grandson, Phillip Bales.


Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Joan Poore, Lula; daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl and Jimmy Bales, Lula, Cathy and Darryll Martin, Gainesville; grandchildren Scott and Jason Poore, Andy and Holly Bales, Allyson and Daniel Thomas,Cara Martin; great grandchildren Caleb Poore, Andrew and Addisyn Bales; sisters-in-law Gloria Kemp and Maxie Keith, both of Murrayville; and special caregiver Diane Martin.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the Gillsville Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Calhoun and the Rev. Jason Buffington will officiate. Interment will follow in the Gillsville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday September 8, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home.


In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Gillsville Baptist Church Building Fund or the Cemetery Fund.
