Elisabeth Elsie Mills

Elisabeth Elsie Mills, 78, of Cumming, GA died at her home on July 24, 2009. Born in Illesheim, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Johann and Elisabetha Dietz. Her brother, Simon Dietz also preceded her in death.


Mrs. Mills was devoted to her family. She was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors and liked to be active. She particularly enjoyed walking in the park and feeding the ducks. Mrs. Mills was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbus, GA for over 30 years. She was outgoing and had a great sense of humor, liked to have fun and never met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren and liked to play games with them. Mrs. Mills had a group of German friends with whom she met on a regular basis, celebrating birthdays and going out to dinner. She was extremely proud of becoming a US citizen in 1992.


Mrs. Mills is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Rodger Mills of Cumming, GA; daughters, Linda Lamb of Cumming, GA, Bonnie (Scott) Wharton of Alpharetta, GA, Debbie (John) MacDonald of Cumming, GA and Jackie (Jeff) Middleton of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Maggie and Will Wharton and Emily and Sarah Middleton of Cumming, GA; sisters, Marie (Gordon) West and Bertha Hoffman of Illesheim, GER, Gunda (Frank) Moynihan of NY and Anna Voss of Houston, TX; nephews, Kurt and Eugene Voss and Simon Dietz; nieces, Cindy Betz, Barbara Schuller and Patricia Italiano.


Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 11:00 am â
