Loy Underwood

Loy Underwood, age 78 of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, at Habersham Home West following a sudden illness.

Born in Habersham County on March 11, 1931, he was the son of the late Arthur and Vietta Irvin Underwood. Mr. Underwood was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and was retired from Scovill Manufacturing. He enjoyed playing the guitar, camping, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by brothers, Luther, Lee, Noah and Eugene Underwood.

Surviving are wife, Pauline Davis Underwood of Mt. Airy; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Jack Shirley of Clarkesville and Kay and Mike Kelly of Mt. Airy; daughter, JoAnn Lowe of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Delmar and Janis Underwood of Cornelia; son, Dale Underwood of Mt. Airy; sisters, Ruby Thompson of North Carolina and Mozelle York of Evans, GA; brother, Charles â
