Robert Lynn Williams, Jr.

Obituary Date: Saturday, April 18, 2009
On April 17, 2009 Robert Lynn Williams, Jr., MD, beloved husband, father and friend left this world to join our Heavenly Father. He received his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Missouri and his Medical Degree from the University of Florida. As a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, he was Board Certified in Pediatric Medicine and Pediatric Nephrology. Dr. Williams practiced in Cumming and Alpharetta for over 17 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Sarah Ann Williams.

He served our country in two military divisions. He was an Army Vietnam Foreign War Veteran and a retired Air Force Colonel. While stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, he developed the first Attention Deficit Disorder Clinic and was responsible for training fellow Air Force physicians. After leaving active duty, he joined the Air Force Reserve at Dobbins and served in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

He was an avid poetry writer and birdwatcher. His community activities included public speaking on the subject of Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity. He also participated in Habitat for Humanity projects and served his church faithfully.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dorcas Goins Williams of Cumming; children, Wesley Todd Pillion of Frankfurt, KY and Bradley Jason Williams of Arkansas; grandchildren, Madison Danielle Pillion of Winchester, KY and Gaven Pillion of Frankfort, KY; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlene & Claude Hatfield of Wallins, KY; favorite nephew, Randy & Lori Hatfield of Lexington, KY; numerous friends, family and colleagues also survive.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 21th at 10:30 am at Cumming First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Cromartie officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends Monday, April 20th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
