Elmer Lee Wheeler

Elmer Lee Wheeler, age 71 of Clarkesville, passed away Monday, February 2, 2009, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County on January 30, 1938, he was the son of Margie Nations Ramey and the late Thomas Earl Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler was a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. During his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Earl Eugene Wheeler and Roy Wheeler.

Surviving are daughter, Sandra Adair of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Madge & Jimmy Black of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; mother, Margie Ramey of Clarkesville; sisters, Brenda Payne of Cleveland, Shirley Garrett of Clarkesville and Betty Durden of Toccoa; brothers, Tommy Ray Wheeler and Larry Joe Wheeler both of Cleveland; grandchildren, Cody Brock and Shay Hunt; great grandchild, Aiden Hunt; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 from the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Lester Haynes and Rev. Paris Whitworth officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday.
