Edward Bailey

Rev. Edward Bailey, age 86, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 02, 2009 at a private health care center, in Gainesville, GA following an extended illness.

Rev. Bailey was born on February 4, 1922 in Fulton County to the late Edward Daniel Sr. and Myrtes Stone Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Elizabeth McCleer Bailey and grandson Johnny Bailey. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Navy. He first retired as an air traffic controller and then he retired as a Baptist minister. Rev. Bailey was a member of The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Gainesville, GA.

Survivors include his wife Alma Scarborough Bailey, Cleveland; and son Daniel P. Bailey, Cleveland; sons and daughters in law Michael and Lorraine Bailey, St. Augustine, FL; Jack and Sandra Bailey, Mansfield, GA; step daughters and step sons in law Marie and Ted Ratliff, Cullman, AL; Kathy and Kelly Moore, Gainesville; Gloria and Bob Jones, Clermont; grandchildren Marc and Karla Bailey, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Michelle and Michael Shaw ,Greenville, SC; Joshua Bailey. Jacksonville, FL; Danielle and Tony Mastalir, Colorado Springs, CO; Candace and Michael Reed, Simi Valley, CA; Eric and Christie Bailey, Chattanooga, TN; Charles Bailey, Daytona Beach, FL; great grandchildren Amanda Shaw, Dylan Shaw, Maddie Shaw, Mikel Mastilar, Andre Mastilar, Jake Reed, Jace Reed, Caleb Bailey, and Kaleecya Bailey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Gainesville, GA. The Rev. Ben Haupt will officiate. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery Clermont, GA.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M Tuesday at the funeral home.
