Two IronDawgs win at state championships

LITHIA SPRINGS -- A pair of Georgia IronDawgs recently lifted their way to wins in their classes at the United State Powerlifting Association (USPA ) Georgia State Championships in Lithia Springs.<br /> <br /> Dwon Johnson took first in his 308-plus pounds class with a squat of 788 pounds, bench of 390 and deadlift of 688 for a total of 1,866 pounds. <br /> <br /> Meanwhile, Tyler Cummings won the junior 242 class, breaking four American records with a squat of 667 pounds, bench of 452 and deadlift of 667 for a record total of 1,786 pounds. <br /> <br /> Johnson is an alumnus of East Hall, while Cummings is from North Forsyth. Both men lifted raw in this meet.<br /> <br /> Many of the IronDawgs, a local powerlifting team headquartered at the Iron Beast Gym in Gainesville, are prepping for the American Powerlifting Committee (APC) National Championships in Athens. The 'Dawgs will field teams in bench press and full power and are expected to contend for individual titles as well.
