According to a statement from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old Devon Caine Ledford of Commerce has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
"Hall County takes this matter very seriously, and as soon as we became aware of the situation this morning, the decision was made to place Ledford on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation initiated by the Hall County Sheriff's Office," said Hall County Human Resources Director Bill Moats.

Moats said the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council has been informed of the charges and will conduct an investigation, as well.

The written statement said Ledford has been employed with Hall County since 2008, serving as an officer in the road maintenance division.
Ledford was arrested Wednesday night by the Banks County Sheriff's Office. He has been indicted on eight counts of violation of the Georgia Racketeering Influence and Corrupt Organization (RICO) Act. (See story linked below for further details.)
