CLERMONT - The Clermont Town Council is awaiting a special election ordinance from the city attorney to fill a seat on the town council.
Clermont City Clerk Sandra Helton confirmed Tuesday afternoon that council member Debra Armour had resigned from her post.
Helton said the council received a resignation letter from Armour last Thursday citing unforeseen circumstances as the reason for her resignation.
Helton said the council hopes to take up the special election ordinance in June with the item possibly being on the ballot in November.
In the meantime, Helton said in the event of a tie vote on the council, the mayor can cast the deciding vote.
