GAINESVILLE ― The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County was recently presented with the "High Performance Board Team Award" at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Southeast Regional Conference.

The "High Performance Board Team Award" recognizes the board of directors of a Boys & Girls Club organization for achieving excellence as a team in the areas of Marketing, Resource Development, Outreach to Unserved Youth and Planning. The organization was one of 132 Boys & Girls Club organizations across the southeast eligible for the award.

"This year's winner is a board that has continued to strengthen partnerships within its community. The board is actively engaged in developing a major gift and planned giving strategy that will strengthen their impact and reach more kids, more often," said Paula Mackelburg, director of organizational development, Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Greg Katulka, chief professional officer, Boys & Girls Clubs of Hall County, accepted the award on behalf of the board of directors.

"A lot of credit goes to long term board members who have been there in good times and bad, as well as, to the incredible professional staff at the Clubs," Katulka said. "We are proud of this accomplishment. But our volunteer board, with the help of our community, must improve upon what we have already done and commit to working harder and smarter than ever. We have a responsibility to help our youth by addressing the challenges facing young people today, including poverty, poor education and unhealthy lifestyles."
