New Sup't. named for Banks County Schools

HOMER - The Banks County Board of Education named Stan Davis as the single finalist for the position of Superintendent of Banks County Schools at a called meeting on Monday.

Davis has been serving as the Associate Superintendent of Carroll County schools.

According to a release from Shane Roberts, Chairman of the Banks County Board of Education:

"After reviewing applications and interviewing a number of excellent candidates, the Banks County Board of Education determined that Mr. Davis is the best applicant for the position of Superintendent. The Board selected Mr. Davis from among a total of 36 applications that were received. The Board voted unanimously to name Mr. Davis as the single finalist for the position on Monday, March 17, and announced its intention to name him as Superintendent after the 14-day period required by Georgia law."

"Mr. Davis has served as Associate Superintendent of the Carroll County School System since 2012. He served as Assistant Superintendent of Hart County Schools from 2008 to 2012. Mr. Davis spent much of his career in Carroll County before moving to Hart County. He served as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal of Bowden High School, assistant principal of Villa Rica High School, and principal of Bowden High School, all within the Carroll County School System."

"Mr. Davis earned his bachelors degree in 1988 and his Masters degree in 1990, both from West Georgia College. He earned an education specialist degree from the State University of West Georgia in 1998 and education specialist certification in administration from the State University of West Georgia in 2004. Mr. Davis also completed Georgia's Superintendents Professional Development Program in 2013."

"The Board was unanimous in its decision to name Mr. Davis as the single finalist for the position. In response to the Board's action, Mr. Davis stated, 'I am honored to have been named Superintendent of the Banks County School System. I am very excited about the opportunity to serve the children of this area. I look forward to becoming an active part of the community. Banks County has a great reputation for academic excellence across the state, and I am committed to serving to the best of my ability.'."

"The Davis family will be relocating to Banks County in the next few months. Details of the contract for employment, including the date for beginning work, will be developed by the Board in coming weeks."
