Week 4: Area teams set for key showdowns in region -- and out

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter
Teams looking to see if they are pretenders or contenders in their respective regions may get an early look after Friday's matchups. Also, some intriguing non-region matchups offer fans a look at who may have what it takes to make it to postseason play.

White County is hoping to show it is a contender beyond just Region 7-AAA taking on Blessed Trinity. A win would give the Warriors their best start in nearly 40 years.

Flowery Branch and Gainesville look to keep rolling rolling in Region 8-AAAAA with games against teams they have dominated in recent years. In Region 8-AAA, East Jackson and Jackson County do battle with each team looking to open region play strong after rough starts to the year.

But the biggest game of the night in the area, and possibly the state, will take place in Hoschton as No. 5 Mill Creek plays host to No. 4 Peachtree Ridge in a huge battle in Region 7-AAAAAA.
