ATLANTA - CBRE, Inc. says a new Walmart is planned on a 24-acre tract at Peachtree Parkway and Mathis Airport Pakway in Cumming.
The firm says the sale of he property was recently finalized.
The 177,000-square-foot Super Walmart is expected to open in 2014. Scott McGregor, executive vice president, CBRE Land Services Group, oversaw the marketing and permitting process.
The new store is expected to create 250 new jobs and will be located near several other major retailers, including Target, Sears, and The Home Depot along Peachtree Parkway and Brookwood Road.
"We had to overcome numerous hurdles to get this deal to closing from zoning, DOT approvals, appeals of permits, etc., but ultimately Walmart got the best site in the submarket that will create hundreds of new jobs," McGregorsaid.
The ownership group retained three outparcels, which are planned for retail and restaurants and are now available, at the new signalized entrance on Peachtree Parkway.
