DAWSONVILLE -- Fannin County held off a late charge from Banks County to pull out a 52-47 victory on Wednesday in the Region 7-AAA tournament in Dawsonville.

The Lady Rebels led for much of the contest but saw Banks County pull within 48-47 with less than a minute to play before Logan O'Neal and Morgan Chastain each hit clutch free throws to seal the victory and clinch a state tournament berth and region semifinal spot for Fannin County.

Molly Chandler led the way for the Lady Rebels, putting up 19 points, while Lindsey Humphrey and Hope Cochran each added nine. Chastain also saved her best for late, scoring seven of her eight points in the fourth quarter -- including going 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Fannin County missed just two of 10 free throws over the final eight minutes.

Taylor Kennedy did her best to haul Banks County back in front, scoring a game-high 20 points -- 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. In fact Taylor was the only Banks County player to score inside the final two minutes, hitting four of six free throws and a lay-up to keep the pressure on Fannin County.

Kaitlyn Duncan also scored nine, while Lauren Carter added eight for the Lady Leopards.

Banks County's season is now complete.

Fannin County moves on to face Buford at 4 p.m. Friday in the Region 7-AAA semifinals at North Hall in Gainesville.
