Gasoline prices have started to drop again, albeit a slow decline. The latest numbers from AAA show the average price for regular unleaded is down about three cents in Georgia from last week, from $3.33 to $3.30.
AAA predicted the decline to continue during the rest of the month, with a rise again headed toward Spring. Refineries begin the switch to Summer fuel blend and demand starts to pick up in Spring.
Last year the national average peaked in April at $3.94. Forecasters don't expect it to go over $3.80 this year.
"Demand for gasoline remains low and will likely decrease in the coming weeks as winter progresses, flu season worsens, and the tax increase hits worker paychecks," Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman said.
"Motorists could see gas prices drop another 3 to 5 cents this week," Brady added.
Elsewhere in the southeast, Florida saw a two cent decline over the past week, with Tennessee's average gas price dropping three cents during the period.
Tennessee's average was still the lowest of the three states, sitting at $3.17.
