Softball: Lady Elephants whip C. Gwinnett

GAINESVILLE -- Gainesville improved to 4-16 after beating Central Gwinnett 13-8 Wednesday in girls softball action.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Gainesville.

The Lady Red Elephants pounded out 10 hits in thw in while sophomore Kayla Street earned the win going the distance with seven strikeouts.

Abby Smallwood had three hits with two RBI and scored three runs to pace the offense. Rachel Funk had two hits and three RBI and scored twice, and Street had one hit and three RBI and scored two runs.

Kayla Montague, Kara England, Whitney Ledford, and Sarah Arenas each had one hit for Gainesville.

Gainesville will jump back into its Region 8-AAAAA schedule Thursday traveling to Cedar Shoals.
