Gwinnett commissioners vote to buy a Waffle House near planned interchange

Gwinnett County leaders voted to buy a Waffle House in order to create a new interchange at Hwy 316 and Harbins Road in Dacula.

The purchase of the 3/4 acre property will eliminate a traffic light in the area, but the AJC reports it also requires the popular waffle restaurant to be demolished.

It's unclear when the diner will close or if another will be built nearby.

The intersection, being paid for using SPLOST fund, will open sometime between 2022 and 2027.
