GSP cites truck driver after semi overturns in Tallulah Falls

The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a Monday afternoon wreck that blocked U.S. 441/Ga. 15 in Tallulah Falls for several hours.

A 2007 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Manuel Volcan, 60, of North Miami, Fla., was traveling south on U.S. 441/Ga. 15 in the right lane in the area of Main Street in Tallulah Falls, according to GSP Post 7 in Toccoa.

The truck traveled out of the right lane into the left lane and then into the turning lane of Ga. 15, then overturned onto its left side, according to GSP. The truck and trailer then traveled south on its left side and the trailer struck a curb on the east roadside of U.S. 441/Ga. 15, coming to rest facing west and blocking the northbound lanes of Ga. 15, the turning lane of Ga. 15, and the left lane of Ga. 15 southbound.

The wreck happened at 3:49 p.m.

Volcan was taken to Habersham Medical Center with suspected injuries, according to GSP Post 7.

According to GSP, Volcan is charged with driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain lane.
