Hall County outpaces state in 'Give Burns the Boot' campaign.

By Brinceton Baum
For the third consecutive year, Hall County Fire Services has placed first in the State of Georgia for donations to the Give Burns the Boot Drive.

This fundraiser, which has been going on for 35 years, benefits the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide fire safety, fire prevention education, support medical facilities and assist recovering burn survivors.

The annual fundraiser was conducted during three consecutive Fridays in October where firefighters collected donations from Hall County citizens. Over the past three years, Hall County citizens raised over $193,000 in donations for the foundation. Fire Chief Chris Armstrong said the citizens of Hall County have set the standard for contributions to the Burn Foundation across the State of Georgia.

An added bonus for their efforts is that 10% of the total collected by each department is returned to the local fire department. Therefore, thanks to the contributions from citizens, Hall County Fire Services will receive over $5,900 for local fire and life safety education programs.
