Habersham wreck sends one person to trauma center

While few specifics are available at this time, one person had to be freed after a vehicle struck a tree outside Mt. Airy Monday morning.

Habersham County E-9-1-1 received a call at 8:14 a.m. reporting a wreck with possible entrapment on Glade Creek Parkway, according to Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black. A vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree about 250 feet away at the woods line.

“One patient had to be extricated from the vehicle by Habersham County Emergency Services personnel,” Black said. “Patient was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Level II Trauma Center for treatment."

As of 10:15 a.m., the patient was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to Black.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating, and further details are not immediately available.
