Investigators probing house fire near Clarkesville

CLARKESVILLE — A fire that destroyed a mobile home and vehicle just outside Clarkesville Tuesday night remains under investigation.

Fire crews were dispatched to a possible vehicle fire on Lasso Lane off Ga. 197 South just outside Clarkesville at 10:32 p.m. 

Habersham County Emergency Services Director Chad Black said a 911 caller then reported the mobile home was on fire. When units arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames.The fire also consumed an unoccupied structure with no power, according to Black. 

No injuries were reported.

Black said firefighters remained on scene until 11:25 p.m. extinguishing hot spots. 

Habersham County Emergency Services Station 13, Station 14, Med 21 and Battalion 1 initially responded to the fire. Clarkesville Fire Department responded as automatic aid. Lee Arrendale State Prison Fire Department also responded for additional personnel.
