Hall County investigators look for suspect vehicle that hit two women, fled

By B.J. Williams

Two women were hit by a vehicle as they were helping change a flat tire in South Hall County early Sunday morning, and now Hall County investigators are looking for the driver who hit them.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the incident happened around 1:30 Sunday morning on Ga. 13/Atlanta Highway just south of the Friendship Road intersection.

"According to the preliminary investigation, the driver of a northbound van stopped in the highway gore south of Friendship Road to change a flat tire," Booth said in a press statement. "The driver worked on the tire, and two adult female passengers came out of the van to assist. During that time, the two passengers were hit by a vehicle that was also traveling north on Atlanta Highway."

Both said the suspect driver did not stop after striking the two women.

Both women were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Booth said investigators learned two people came to the aid of the injured women, and investigators would like to talk to them.

"Investigators have determined that following the incident, a black woman and a white man were seen leaving the nearby QuikTrip parking lot to assist the injured parties. Investigators need to identify and speak with the good Samaritans," Booth said.

Booth said anyone who might have information related to the incident is asked to call Sgt. John Morgan at the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at 770-718-2383.
