Two arrested after man severely beaten at Talmo residence

By B.J. Williams
Two men have been arrested after the brutal beating of another man at a residence on Reece Circle in Talmo.

Hall County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) investigators said 19-year-old Bobby Jonathan Cardenas of Buford and 29-year-old Michael Lacey Tatro of Talmo are being held without bond for the Jan. 3 incident. Both were arrested Thursday, Jan. 10.

In a press statement, HCSO Lt. Scott Ware said Cardenas and Tatro repeatedly hit the victim with their fists, and the victim suffered facial fractures and broken teeth.

"It is believed that the duo placed a hard object against the victim's throat and pressed down with force resulting in strangulation and visible bruising to his throat and neck area," Ware said. "The men kicked and stomped the victim on his chest and legs and dragged him by his legs across the ground, resulting in large areas of visible bruising on his chest and side."

Ware said the beating left the victim unconscious. Authorities did not release the identity of the victim.

While investigators have not discussed a motive in the incident, they said alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the assault.

Cardenas and Tatro each face charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault and battery.
