VIDEO: West Hall boys rally past Branch; North Hall upsets Vikings

FLOWERY BRANCH — Noah Edmondson led the West Hall fourth-quarter rally Friday night to beat Flowery Branch 54-48.

Edmondson scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter in the comeback win. The Spartans outscored Flowery Branch 18-8 in the quarter. 

Mario Brown scored 13 points and John Gunter had 12 to lead the Falcons.

Things were going well for the Falcons in the first half as they outpaced the Spartans 24-20. The Falcons held Edmondson to just 3 points in the first half.

Edmondson didn’t quit, though. 

In the final quarter, West Hall’s defense turned up the pressure and Edmondson and Devon Williams provided the offense, scoring all 18 points.  

West Hall (5-13, 3-5) will host White County Friday. Game time is 8:30 p.m.

Flowery Branch (1-17, 1-6) travels to Chestatee Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

Daniel Jackson scored 16 points to help North Hall hold off East Hall Friday night on the road. 

Jay Rucker and TJ Campbell scored 14 each to lead the Vikings. 

North Hall (8-11, 4-3) travels to Chestatee Saturday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

East Hall (9-10, 4-3) will play at Lumpkin County Tuesday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

Blake McIntyre tossed in 26 points to in the Region 8-A win over Commerce on the road Friday night.

Adam Cottrell added 15 points & 8 assists, Conley Millwood hit for 11 points.

KY Millwood and Bryce Blackwell crashed the boards for the Lions. Millwood ripped down 10 boards and Blackwell pulled 5 and had 3 steals in the win. 

Lakeview (12-5, 3-0) will host Athens Christian Saturday. Game time is 5 p.m.

 

DAWSON COUNTY 71
FANNIN COUNTY 36

The Tigers held Fannin County to 8 points in the second half to walk away with the Region 7-3A win Friday night in Dawsonville.

Jasper Gibson led the Tigers with 23 points.

The Tigers outscored Fannin 42-38 in the first half and 29-8 in the second half.

Luke Chism tossed in 15 points and Ahmad Kamara had 13.

Dawson County (16-3, 6-1) will travel to GAC Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

 

SOCIAL CIRCLE BOYS 64,
BANKS COUNTY 56

 
Banks County let a 15-3 first quarter lead slip and then fell to Social Circle 64-56 in overtime Friday in a key Region 8-2A game.
 
The loss for the Leopards (10-8, 5-2 Region 8-2A) dropped them into a second place tie with Social Circle (14-4, 5-2). Both teams are two games back of undefeated Elbert County (15-2, 7-0).
 
The Redskins erased the early lead with a 22-8 second quarter to take a 25-23 lead into halftime. But Banks County reclaimed the lead by the end of the fourth quarter, 36-35. However, Social Circle outscored the Leopards 13-6 in the fourth and 17-8 in overtime to pul away for the victory.
 
Carl Cleveland had another huge game with 34 points and 15 boards to lead Banks County but no other Leopards scored more than six. Wes Ledford had 6 points and 4 boards while Dakota Orr had 6 points 8 rebounds, and 3 assists for Banks County.
 
Banks County next will play host to Putnam County while Social Circle plays host to Monticello on Tuesday.
 
 
LANIER CHRISTIAN BOYS 83,
PRAISE ACADEMY 36

 
Lanier Christian opened the game with a 33-17 first quarter and extended its lead to 50-16 by halftime in taking a win at home.
 
Tommy Wandrum and Trevin Last each had 15 points to lead LCA. Asher Weiner chipped in 12 points and Justin Wade 10 for the Lightning.
 
The Lightning pushed their lead to 69-27 heading into the fourth quarter.
